Animal Chess – Wizard Edition

Dou Shou Qi is a traditional Chinese board game. It is also commonly known as Jungle Chess or Animal Chess. This wizard edition of Animal Chess added more fun and chances to the traditional game.

To Win : The goal of the game is either to move an animal to capture the opponents wizard or sorceress or capture all opponents animals

Each player has a wizard or sorceress, who is surrounded by three traps. Wizard and sorceress are stationed behind three traps. Each side has 8 animals of a different rank. Higher ranking pieces can capture all pieces of identical or weaker ranking. However, there is one exception: The elephant may not capture the rat while the rat may capture the elephant. The animal ranking, from strongest to weakest, is : Elephant, Lion, White Tiger, Panther, Wolf, Dog, Cat and Rat.

Both the Wizard and the Sorceress has the same magic. All magic can be cast anytime and does not affect the flow of the game. A spell can only be cast once in each game. There are three spells that can be cast during the game. The magicians can

1 Deliver another animal
2 Capture an opponents animal by poisoning it. The animal captured is randomly selected by the potion.
3 Bomb one of the three traps. A successful bomb on a trap that has opponents animal will capture this animal.
