Photographs of Gunkanjima
Once, Hashima was a prosperous coal mining island. Surrounded by the sea, it apparently resembled a battleship so much that one day people started calling it Gunkanjima Battleship Island. After the changes in Japans energy policy, however, the Hashima mine was closed. Decades later all that remains in the middle of the sea are these gigantic ruins. In this photo album weve collected pictures of inland highrise living quarters, abandoned schools and remnants of the coal mining facilities. Even though Hashima has been partially opened to tourists, this app will allow you to take a closer look at those parts of the island which still remain hidden from the public. You can now have all these beautiful and perilous ruins in the palm of your hand with one easy download.
