CML SCORING TOOL
Patients newly diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia have different risk of progression of their disease. These risks are also called prognostic factors and thank to a calculation based on different co-variates such as age, spleen size a patient can be classified into one of the following 3 groups: high, intermediate and low risk group.
There are nowadays 2 scoring systems on the market:
Sokal Score
Hasford Score
These scores are not completely overlapping. Hasford score is requiring more co-variates than Sokal score whats end in a more stringent classification.
As if Sokal score is based on a very old fashioned way, it is still quite widely used. Hasford seems however to be more specific and could therefore become the next standard.
This BlackBerry application is intended, after entering the different co-variates, to calculate both Sokal and Hasford risks in order to provide the physician instantly both scoring.
